Experience Black Wall Street and the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre through images. 

This pictorial exhibit provides an educational experience for all ages.

The exhibit is presented in six sections:

EARLY GREENWOOD

The Greenwood District was one of the most prominent concentrations of African-American businesses in the United States during the early 20th century, it was popularly known as America's "Black Wall Street".

Busy Bee Recreation

Busy Bee Recreation was  located in the same building as Swift's Ice Cream Parlor.  It was located in a three-story building on the northwest corner of Greenwood and Archer.

Swift’s Ice Cream Parlor

Swift's Ice Cream Parlor was the first ice cream and confectionery parlor in Tulsa.  It was located in a three-story building located on the northwest corner of Greenwood and Archer.

Harris Prescription Laboratory 

 Harris Prescription Laboratory was owned by T.W. Harris and was located at 126 N. Greenwood, next to Big Ben's Tailoring, the Rex, and Dreamland Theater.

Williams East End Garage

As more blacks began to purchase the "horseless carriages", Williams opened the East End Garage.  It was located on the northwest corner of Greenwood and Archer.

Mann Brother’s Grocery Store

Mann  Brother's Grocery store was owned by J.D. Mann.  This grocery store was located farther down on Lansing Street, next door to Gibbs' Fish and Poultry.

Jones Drug Store

Jones Drug Store was located on Lansing.  

It was one of the many businesses in the Greenwood District that was owned by "coloreds" and contributed to the Black Wall Street Pride.  

People’s Drug Store

People's Drug Store was located in the same building as Swift's Ice Cream Parlor.  It was located in a three-story building located on the northwest corner of Greenwood and Archer.
